INTRO:
> AM2, Sega's ace arcade development team, never ceases to amaze.
Super GT (a.k.a. Scud Race in Japan) is the first ever Model 3 game and
it showcases AM2's prowess with gameplay to spare. Thanks to the
dual Lockheed Martin R3D/Pro-100 custom graphics chips under the hood,
Sega's Model 3 board is at least three times as powerful as the Model 2
standard. AM2 combines the power of 750,000 polygons per second with
their programming heritage to produce an unparalleled racing experience.
GRAPHICS:
> Super GT's graphics are simply amazing! Behold as the Model
3 board breezes through detailed landscapes, moving scenery, and super
high speeds. To say it's smooth is vastly understating the flowing
speed presented in gorgeous light source, gouraud shaded splendor.
The sharp, detailed backgrounds will tempt your attention away from the
task at hand. Special effects are everywhere and include transparency,
lighting, and anti-aliased edges. My favorite effect has to be the
sparks that fly off your car when you come in contact with a wall!
> A choice of views from first person to third person are included, which
is a standard feature of Sega games. As usual, I prefer the third
person above and behind the car view. That way, I can admire the
detail of my car and the scenery while racing against as many as 39 opponents!
CONTROL:
> Super GT's control and gameplay is near my ideological standard
of perfection. Never before has an arcade or home racer so perfectly
combined realism with responsive input. If you thought the power
slides in Daytona were great, you're in for a real treat. As you
enter a turn, you gradually drift while minute steering and power inputs
put you on a perfect line. All four cars have individual attributes
for grip, acceleration, speed and handling -- I prefer the Maclaren F1.
Simply said, Super GT has THE best control EVER!
SOUND:
> The game's music is rockin' -- true to a racers fancy in perfect
Sega arcade style. The sound effects are excellent from engine noise,
to passing jets, to screeching tires, to metal-crunching collisions.
Hopefully, the arcade unit near you has the sound turned up because it's
definitely worth hearing.
FUN:
> Super GT features easy-day, easy-night (my favorite), intermediate,
and expert courses. You can select from four licensed cars: Dodge
Viper, Ferrari F40, Maclaren F1, and Porsche Turbo. Super GT combines
the best of Daytona and Sega Rally in one awesome high speed race from
heaven. Replayability is very good,
especially versus a human opponent (two and four player networks are the
most common). You'll have the time of your life in the racing bliss
brought to you courtesy of AM2. When you combine sweet graphics,
control and sound with network play, you get the expected Sega excellence...
