Description
Phantasy Star Online Ver.2 (Original Soundtrack) 15th Anniversary is an album featuring music from Sega's exceptional Action/MMORPG.  It's a Limited Edition compilation by SHiNFORCE in 2016, and contains 2 CD's with a total of 47 tracks.  It has every song from the original game, including special event and quest music plus 4 exclusive medleys.  Well, I guess it doesn't have the Christmas lobby tune (which is too repetitive) or and New Years lobby tune (which is annoying).
Review by Shinobi | 05.26.2016
     > Sega hit a grand slam when they compiled the Phantasy Star Online Version 2 soundtrack.  Sonic Team already had a revolutionary experience in PSO to which they quickly added the Version 2 expansion.  It features many songs for the new quests and modes.  The original orchestral soundtrack is now enhanced by more techo-futuristic melodies, plus many familiar themes from other Dreamcast and Saturn games.  Various quests and holiday lobby themes were graced with music from Sonic Adventure, Burning Rangers, NiGHTS, Chu Chu Rocket and Samba de Amigo.

     > This 2-CD collection contains 4 SHiNFORCE exclusive medleys which correspond to the four main locales in the game: Forest, Caves, Mines and Ruins.  My two favorite new addtions to the expansion come from other Sega games.  The song "It Doesn't Matter" from Sonic Adventure is a fantastic guitar heavy tune with great vocals.  The second is "Burning Hearts ~Burning Angel~" from Burning Rangers, which is a high energy anthem that makes you forget about grinding levels.  Both of these can be selected while doing the "Missing Maracas" quest.  As I've said before: even after hundreds of gaming hours, I'm still not even close to being sick of this tremendously soothing and uplifting soundtrack.

     > This is a Limited Edition 15th Anniversary compilation and is not sold in stores or online!  The only way to earn this collectable item is to win a contest at SHiNFORCE.

Bottom Line:
     > This is my favorite PSO soundtrack, period.  The PSOv2:OST is yet another example of Sega's excellence in game music!  It combines the best of Phantasy Star Online themes and other Sega themes to create a once in a lifetime experience.  Good luck winning the contest for this prize.  I'm positive you'll treasure the music as much as I do.  It's a labor of love.

Overall: 11/10

Liner Notes by Shinobi | 07.14.2016
     > Usually when reading through the track titles of a videogame soundtrack it's difficult to discern the significance or event for all of them.  With that being said, I'm going to go through the tracks and offer descriptions.

A Song for Eternal Story is played during the PSO title screen.
The Whole New World (Lala/Lyric) is played with the intro movie after the Phantasy Star Online title screen times-out.  Note PSO ver.2 only plays the 'lyric version' of this song.
Image of Hero is played during character creation.
Prenotion is played while at the existing character selection screen.
Day Dawns is the default (online only) lobby tune that helps pass time while chatting and gathering friends.
Crossing 3084 is played inside the quest room of Pioneer 2 (your mothership), which is where you first spawn into a solo or party session.
Pioneer 2 is played while in the main area of the mothership of the same name.
Mother Earth of Dishonesty ~Part 1 is played throughout Forest 1 and 2, while you're not in immediate danger.
Mother Earth of Dishonesty ~Part 2 is played throughout Forest 1 and 2, while you are in immediate danger.
Growl, From the Depths of the Earth is heard while battling the game's first boss, the fire breathing, underground tunneling Dragon!
Codes of Silence is played when visiting the Principal's room on Pioneer 2.  The Principal and his associates give you direction and move the story along.
The Kink in the Wind and the Way ~Part 1 is played throughout Cave 1-3, while you're not in immediate danger.
The Kink in the Wind and the Way ~Part 2 is played throughout Cave 1-3, while you are in immediate danger.
From Seeing the Rough Wave is the theme played while battling the second boss, De Rol Le - a swimming, jumping, Godzilla breathing, gigantic worm from hell.
Weird Night is the (online only) lobby tune played for a period around the Halloween holiday.
Chaotic Bar is played while you are in the shop of Pioneer 2, where you can buy/sell weapons, items and armor, plus visit the Tekker to identify rare finds.
Empty Space Out of Control ~Part 1 is played throughout Mine 1 and 2, while you're not in immediate danger.
Empty Space Out of Control ~Part 2 is played throughout Mine 1 and 2, while you are in immediate danger.
The Crazy Program is heard while battling the first form of the third boss, Vol Opt - an electrifying, multi-screen computer gone crazy.
You Have Nowhere To Go follows as the second form of Vol Opt spawns - a huge mech-battletank that uses lasers, homing missiles, a crushing arm, and self-healing.
Healing is played while in the hospital room (complete with nurses) of Pioneer 2, which you visit to heal up or spawn after a non-resurrected death.
Revolution to the Origin ~Part 1 is played throughout Ruin 1-3, while you're not in immediate danger.
Revolution to the Origin ~Part 2 is played throughout Ruin 1-3, while you are in immediate danger.
The Nearest Place to Heaven ~Part 1 is heard on your way to the fourth and final boss, Dark Falz, as you survey his graveyard.
The Nearest Place to Heaven ~Part 2 is played once you've initiated the resurrection of Dark Falz and you're surrounded by hundreds of spinning spikes that make quick work of flesh.
Pray, for "IDOLA" the Distorted is heard as you battle the first and second forms of Dark Falz - the fourth and final boss that freezes, bombs, slows, spikes, and rains down heavenly punishment.
Cry, for "IDOLA" the Holy is played while battling the third and final form of Dark Falz - a longsword wielding, light and dark magic casting, magic orb projectile shooting, soul stealing force of hell.
Can Still See the Light (Lala/Lyric) is the musical treat you are entitled to hearing after defeating Dark Falz!  Wow, what an excellent ending theme.  Note PSO ver.2 only plays the 'lala version' of this song.
