> Considering how much time I've spent on PSO games, I can't help but think
it's the best series I've ever enjoyed. Once news of another sequel
came out, excitement was rampant on Ragol. Then we found out it would
be a card battle game. Hmmm. To be quite honest, that was a
real let down for me, as I can't think of any other game that compares
to PSO's quality action gameplay. At least if you're looking to import,
considering the history of PSO, then you should be Okay. Even so,
I'm counting on Sonic Team to continue their success.
> Combining the excitement of card collection and deck settings with team-based
battle tactics, Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution (PSOe3)
expands the PSO universe, while offering a new style of strategic combat.
PSOe3 allows users to chat in the lobby about status upgrades and tactics,
and interact with both PSOe2
and PSOe3 players. Once you've assembled your team of Hunters, you
can journey to the surface of Ragol to engage in strategic combat using
a turn-based Card system. I've played this type of game before and
all I can say is, I hope Sonic finds a way to speed things up while maintaining
our interest. A tough (not impossible) request, undoubtedly.
> Taking place after the timeline of PSOv1/2
and PSOe2, PSOe3 continues the story arc of The Realm. The ultimate
mission remains the same: become a Hunter and explore the mysteries of
the planet Ragol. Realtime battles are replaced with strategic card
battles for both online and offline play. In a (now) classic Sonic
Team tweak, they've decided to make a distinction between EXP earned online
and offline. Also, players can now reach a level of 999 --
I wonder how many lifetimes that will take, LOL. Multiplayer modes
make a return, as well as downloadable quests. Players are divided
into Hunters (friends) and Arks (enemies), based on their lightside/darkside
allegiance. You can collect an enormous number of weapons, gear,
and items to create an original deck with your character. Some cards
will be available for trade, while others (like S-rank cards) will not.
The best feature: no additional Hunter's License will be necessary, as
your PSOe2 HL will suffice. Just to be clear, PSOe3 will not be compatible
with PSOe2 on Xbox. |
